Administrative building complex of the County Erzgebirgskreis (Saxony) in Annaberg-Buchholz
ARCHITECTURE / OBJECT PLANNING OF BUILDING
The administration building complex has been extended with a six-storey-high building with a complete basement being connected to the existing front building via a bridge.
The building consists of four structured parts, which surround a glass roofed atrium and have characteristically different sloped roofs. The connection structure (bridge) conveys from old to new. With glassed and metal revetted cuts in the front the six-storey-high complex is divided into four parts. The compact structure of the extension building complements the classic shape of the three-storey-high old building.
The existing three-storey-high administration building with complete basement from 1938 was reconstructed according to current regulations and guidelines. In consideration of preserving interests, structural-physical aspects as well as the necessity of a fire-protection related modernization substantial reconstruction and modernization measures have been taken at the existing building.
